Extra Curricular Clubs offered at St Pius
Ballet & Musical Theatre – led by Sandham and Fitchett Dance School
Ballet is offered to children from Pre-school to Year 6 and takes place on a Thursday afternoon.
Musical Theatre is available for all Junior Children
Cricket is available for Year 5 -6 with a qualified Lancashire Cricket Coach.
Football is available for Rec – Year 6 pupils throughout the year and is lead by Mr Long (Head of PE) and Miss Covell and Mrs Thornton.
Miss Crawshay and Miss Lavelle take pupils from year 3 – Year 6 for Netball coaching on a Monday after-school.
During the Summer term, Rounders is available as an After School Activity.
Miss Porters’ Dance Club takes place during the Spring and Autumn term and is enjoyed by pupils Year 1 – Year 6. Each year they take part in Pownall Hall’s Dance Competition and are currently unbeaten.
The school offers swimming lessons every Tuesday to pupils from Reception to Year 6. pupils are taught by qualified swimming teachers at Fulwood Leisure Centre.
Miss Flint encourages pupils every week to become St Pius ‘MasterChefs’ with her Cooking Club, which is run after-school.
Art club is run throughout the school year for various age groups. They work on various projects; mosaics, upcycling canvas painting and festive decorations. Mrs Murch encourages pupils to find their inner artist.
Tennis lessons are available for children from pre-school to Year 6. This is always very popular with pupils and the Inter-House Tennis finals at the end of the summer term is a hotly contested competition.
Mrs Silvester currently visits school two days a week to deliver LAMDA lessons to a large number of pupils. LAMDA gives pupils the opportunity to develop the communication skills they need to thrive.
Year 6 are encouraged to develop their coding skills outside of the structure of lessons, with this after school club.
Music is taught as part of the curriculum to pupils from Pre-school to Year 6. A large number of pupils receive private musical tuition across a wide range of instruments and voice. Pupils are encouraged to take part in the two music concerts throughout the year and on other special occasions in school life.
Throughout the school year, pupils also have the opportunity to take part in athletics, cricket, sewing, rounders, tag rugby, skiing, hockey, and gymnastics.
