The House System

Houses of St Pius X Prep School Preston

St Pius X Catholic Preparatory School is divided into units called "houses" and each pupil is allocated to one house at the moment of enrolment. At St Pius X, we seek to provide a structure in which all of our children can be educated as individuals. The House is a primary focus in all this.

The Houses offer opportunities for pupils across different year groups to come together and take part in a variety of events during the year and is an important part of school life at the School.

The House System gives pupils the opportunity to be rewarded for efforts and achievement in many areas of Prep life and its primary aim is to encourage all children to get involved in the many inter-house competitions and co-curricular activities.

Heads of Houses are elected in the Upper Prep to lead each of the four houses. These sought after positions are awarded to Year 6 pupils who are popular and influential with children of all age groups.  They act as mentors to the members of their House and coordinate teams for the many and varied House Competitions, as well as lead House Assemblies. The House Competition Cup is presented to the winning House Captain at the end of the year.

Siblings are placed in the same House and remain in the same House for the entirety of their St Pius X Catholic Preparatory School journey.

The House System is at the heart of St Pius X, it is central to school life in terms of identity, pastoral, community and academic support.
